We are being hit with a lot these days. The COVID-19 health crisis is not going away any time soon. We are trying to keep ourselves safe with quarantine, face masks, and routinely disinfecting our hands and our surfaces. Many Americans are also standing up for equality and global change, making our opinions known to the powers that be.
All of this tension and worry is not good for the skin; it’s causing expression lines and wrinkles. We need Botox (or Dysport or Jeuveau)! We want to look better and be less stressed; does that sound shallow?
Well, I say, when you look better you feel better; and when you feel better you DO better. But is it safe to see your Dermatologist and get injectables? It IS safe at Siperstein Dermatology, let me tell you why.
Is It Safe To Get Botox During The Pandemic?
At Siperstein Dermatology, we are taking a lot of precautions for your safety and ours.
To start, we are greeting patients at the front entrance wearing surgical masks prior to the time of their appointment. We require all patients to wear face masks as well. We are taking temperatures and asking COVID-19 pertinent health questions prior to having you wait momentarily in your car until your doctor is ready. This helps us eliminate any spread of the virus in our office by having patients limit the time they spend in the waiting room.
We have provided a hand sanitizer station just inside the entrance, where you are then escorted to your treatment room. This exam room has been completely sanitized prior to your arrival. You will then be greeted by a medical assistant wearing two face masks, an N95 mask and an additional mask for added patient safety.
What Happens During The Treatment?
You may be photographed and/or have numbing cream applied prior to treatment. Surgical gloves are always worn by our medical assistants and doctors during all treatments. When your doctor comes into the room to discuss and provide treatment, she or he will be wearing two masks (N95 and face mask) over their nose and mouth, as well as a clear protective shield covering their face.
If a patient is having Botox or any neuromodulators around their eyes or forehead, they may be able to keep their mask on if desired. Of course, all injectables, needles and syringes are sterile, and the patient’s face is cleaned with alcohol prior to any injection.
At the end of your procedure, all needles or “sharps” are disposed of in a proper container that eliminates any exposure to medical staff or patients. The patient will then be escorted to the checkout counter where our staff will remain six feet from the patient and conclude your cosmetic encounter. We will escort you out safely, and follow up with a call in a few days to assure you were happy with your procedure.
