What is Sebacia and how does it work?

Our skin contains sebaceous glands which create oil to lubricate and protect your skin. However excess production of this oil can clog pores. Acne occurs when bacteria get trapped in these clogged pores.  

Sebacia is a groundbreaking treatment designed to target and reduce acne by reducing these sebaceous glands.  Unlike traditional acne medications that rely solely on topical or oral applications, Sebacia offers a unique approach that combines the benefits of light-based therapy with gold microparticles. 

How is the treatment performed? 

Sebacia treatment is performed in a series of three sessions over 14 days. One treatment session takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete.

The treatment involves three key steps:

1. Preparation: The skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove oils and debris.
2. Application: Gold microparticles are gently massaged into the skin’s pores. 
3. Activation: A specialized laser is used to activate the gold microparticles. This process generates heat, which reduces the activity of the sebaceous glands, thereby decreasing oil production and reducing acne formation.
